RICK ROSS TO VISIT NIGERIA

Visiting Africa for the first time to take part in the 11 December MTV AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS, US rapper Rick Ross has been described by the New York Times as “one of rap’s most potent and creative forces”. 

The tattoo-loving, six-foot, larger-than-life rap figure first came to attention with “Hustlin”, his 2006 debut single.

Influenced by artists like Luther Campbell and Notorious B.I.G, Ross, a.k.a. William Roberts, aimed to put Miami back in rap's national spotlight and went on to do just that with his 2006 album “Port of Miami”, which went to number one on the Billboard album chart.

Similar acclaim followed for “Trilla” (2007) and “Deeper Than Rap” (2009), while his 2010 album release “Teflon Don”, which debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, has garnered critical acclaim for its emotional depth, cinematic production, sleek, synth-heavy beats, and rich soundscapes. 

Ross is nominated in the Best International category at the MAMA awards

SIGNATURE is an Eastern Nigeria based Hiphop crew headed by Bosalin Nwako.

These guys are phenomenal yet organized and most definitely not smiling. If you’ve been to the Awka recently, I’m sure you can relate to what I’ve just said.

Last time they wowed us with their one-time Rhythm hit song of the week, Container. Now they are doing it again! OMG!

Nigerian rapper OVERDOSE has finally dropped his sophomore album titled H.O.D (Hustle or Die). The album is already available in stores nationwide.

As a means of awareness, a final single has been chosen; it  is titled "Drinks in a glass". 

The video for  "Drinks In A Glass" has already been shot and is receiving rotations on  the big screens.

Countdown To Ruggedman's Album Release

Nigerian ace rapper-Ruggedman is set to drop his third album in a couple of days.

This highly anticipated album titled "UNTOUCHABLE" will showcase a lot of upcoming voices in music and is expected by fans to contain Ruggedman's replies to disses from other artistes like Modenine, 9CE and recently A-Q.

Ruggedman who is famous for putting Nigerian hiphop in the limelight has put the album release date for 20th November,2010.

Already, this album has started receiving nods judging from the release of the album art cover a couple of weeks ago.

It was exclusively gathered Yesterday on Producer/Singer/ Rapper Rogers's Facebook Wall Yesterday, that after Rogers gave his opinion about Rapper Modenine's New Track- "Lose U" Video on Youtube, Modenine gets emotional as commented first on the ost and called Rogers a "BIG F**king FOOL". We would say, its a little to much and least expected attitude from a Mainstream Act like modenine who has been in the game for more than 10 years. Rogers, who is currently based in Malaysia admitted been a Modenine FAN right from when he started- Rogers quoted- " i'm a big fan of mode right from the Malcolm IX lost session era,i mean i got all his collec for God's sake,i'm one of d first to download his latest mixtape "Pay AT-10-SHUN"....when i watched the video of "lose you" i thought ...to myself,why is he sounding like he's about to quit the underground hiphop for the other type of hiphop coz truth be told he's the only one still repping what we used to know as underground hiphop and he's pretty good at it,so i posted it right here just to get other fans's opinions,but him commenting and saying i'm a big fucking fool just threw me off,guess he just lost one big die-hard fan plus i'm recycling all his tape's that i got...real talk!!!"

ARTIST ON THE SPOTLIGHT:::THE FACULTY

THE FACULTY  is a Nigerian Hip Hop group consisting of four of the livest emcees any squad can offer.

Members include Juze, Grand S.U.N., Five, Gee Zee and Chopstickz who also produces for the group.

When these emcees joined heads, sculpture garden was the spot, connect (freestyle show) was the event and Hip Hop was the cause!
They got together to record a couple of joints and haven't looked back since!

The Faculty received mad reviews after the release of the song "In Da House" starring Pherowshuz.

They have topped the charts on Reverbnation.com for several weeks now. 

The crew is  also enterprising as they own a clothing line named The Faculty Clothing.

The Faculty draws its inspiration from such rap weights as Talib Kweli, De La Soul, Saul Williams, Masta Ace, Jay Z, Linkin Park, Def Squad, Pharoah Monch.

They also claim to have "...influenced each other a lot!"

Very few artistes have the glowing resume' like eLDee has.

Meet the man behind the yell, "Jamix baby!!!"

Born Lawrence Emmanuel on May 12th to an equally music loving parents in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Music began for JAMIX as a child as he found love in playing the drums in 1992. Further down the line of music, he fell in love once again with the keyboard in 1997 which he mastered in no time.

As his music art transformed through the years, this young maverick pushed his ante up more notches higher, veering into music production and between the space of eight years (1998 to 2008 precisely), JAMIX has worked with an enviable crop of Nigerian artistes, churning out chart attackers like; Mode 9, Faze, Styl plus, OD, Ruleclean, Rugged Man, Pherowshuz, D’accord, Terry Tha Rapman, Black Solo, Naydo, Branded and many more.
